Uncanny is a factual and has realistic ghost stories for people to listen to, they speak about how these real life ghosts have been causing some issues towards people in the past and what kind of affects it has created towards these people. This podcast is to entertain people as ghost stories do often interest everyone and it is amusing to them, these podcasts will never bore anyone as paranormal activities are always happening. This podcast can inform and educate people as it can give everyone information about ghosts and what you need to know and look out for if they also have any paranormal activity going on they will not be as shocked and scared as they would be as they will have a little bit of knowledge. in 12:23 when he spoke about the door and how it would make very aggressive sounds as no one was there. This is educating as they are bringing real life scenarios into the podcast, in 12:28 a women named Caroline Watt who is a professional psychologist at the university of Edinburgh , Peter Laws tells us that he thinks it could be an illusion that's playing with their minds like a dream and their physical body is confused , this will educate us as they are giving their opinions and what they think is right as well as what they believe because they have studied this for ages.
The content this podcast is trying to give off is a scary/horror ghost stories as the podcast is based on a man who doesn't believe in ghost at all and his name is Ken and he cant take in the fact that he has seen a ghost when he was a student in Belfast as in this first clip he was speaking about how some events have happened inside his bedroom and he has seen this situation as "pure evil" and he also tells us that these activities have always happened in room 611. with this you are able to see that as soon as the main speaker has started speaking in the podcast and says "just supernatural or if it can be explained". At 0:51 the music plays in the background and gives us a sense of an eerie atmosphere as it has a bass playing in the background and due to this they are slowly drawing in the audience as its meant to be spooky.
At 6:03 ken was talking about him feeling a dark presence around him and he quiet didn't understand the reason on why his blankets started to move which frightened him even more and didn't know what to do. while you continue to watch the clip you can hear the music gradually getting louder and louder and this has created an exaggerated/dramatic effect to the audience which will make them think something extravagant has happened or someone is in danger. All of a sudden at 07:11 the music has a sudden stop indicating that nothing has happened and this creates a confusing atmosphere makig the audience question what has happened as they could have been expecting something. the same thing happens again in the clip. there was someone inside an elevator going to the floor ken was in and he found that very unusual and it made him think that someone was after him or going to visit him, however at the same time he felt as if something bad was coming and didnt like the sense of it. At 11:00 the music/sound came back however it is much louder than before and we heard marching footsteps, loud stomps and the sounds of doors being punched and kicked making the audience feel sick to their stomach as theres so much happening in such a little amount of time.
with the mode of address in my opinion I feel like this show was informal only because Danny and Ken are using their personal pronouns which has engaged the audience to make them feel as if theyre directly talking to them. this makes the audience feel like they are a part of this podcast. ken uses the word "I" a lot throughout this podcast which is his own personal pronoun as it is him talking about the experience that he has been through and makes sure the audience feels comfortable with him as he tries to not be so overly informal and not too overly formal.
